JOB CLASS TITLE: Hvac Supervisor

The HVAC Supervisor works within Central Engineering's Construction and Major Maintenance unit and provides on-site inmate supervision of commercial and institutional HVAC installations on new construction, renovation and major maintenance projects. These positions interpret mechanical construction plans and specifications, estimate material and equipment, determine manpower requirements, assign daily work activities to inmate work crew, and provide quality control for workmanship and compliance with contract documents. The HVAC Supervisor will coordinate with job site management to assure that all project goals and CPM
project schedule is met. Project administrative duties include weekly construction reports on work accomplished, daily tool inventories, inspection and check in of HVAC material delivered to the site, assist in maintaining as- built drawings, documenting HVAC test / balance reports, and assuring that all project closeout documents are in order.

Qualified applicants must possess and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following)
This position requires THREE (3) years of journey level experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution and control systems.
Current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.
Working knowledge of and experience with HVAC commercial and institutional construction.
Comprehensive knowledge of the NC Building Codes, ASHRA and NFPA Codes.
Comprehensive knowledge of construction industry safety requirements.
Ability to comprehend and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Management Preferences:
Refrigerant License Type II or Universal
Knowledge of and experience installing and troubleshooting chillers, gas fired boilers, DX air conditioning systems, ventilation systems, various types of pumps, DDC control systems, and older pneumatic control systems.
Skill in the operation of various construction equipment (light and heavy).
